Funny Feelings

Creator Sarah Hatherley

Cultivating a rich vocabulary of emotions.

Emotional Intelligence(EI/EQ) is the ability to deal with emotions – as well as the feelings, thoughts, and physical sensations that accompany emotions – in a flexible and positive way.

Decades of research link emotional intelligence to improved educational outcomes and employment prospects.

It’s also recognised as playing a role in fostering positive relationships and general wellbeing.

Unlike IQ, EQ can be taught. And emotional literacy needs to start in primary school.

Labelling the full range of emotions using a rich vocabulary is key.

And yet, until now, there has been no single-minded package of tools devoted to helping young people develop a rich vocabulary of emotions.

Sarah created Funny Feelings children's story books and emotional literacy resources to help young people recognise and manage their emotions.

She had a funny feeling it was the key to navigating a joyful path through life.
